Michael C. Edwards is Chief Financial Officer, Consulting Psychometrician, co-Founder, and a managing partner at VPG. In addition to his internal role, Dr. Edwards regularly participates in projects in his capacity as a psychometrician/quantitative psychologist. He earned his PhD in Quantitative Psychology from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. His research is generally focused on modern psychometrics with specific emphases dimensionality item response theory (IRT), factor analysis, and computerized adaptive testing (CAT). Dr. Edwards has published numerous book chapters and dozens of journal articles in outlets such as Autism, Journal of Abnormal Psychology, Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, Psychological Assessment, Psychological Methods, Psychometrika, and Quality of Life Research. He chaired the College Board’s Digital Testing Psychometric Advisory Team and served on the Psychometric Oversight Committee for the Uniform CPA Exam.
Dr. Edwards has been a faculty member at Arizona State University since 2017. He is a full Professor in the quantitative research methods area of the Department of Psychology. Prior to that, he had held Assistant and Associate Professor positions in the Department of Psychology at The Ohio State University. While at OSU, he was chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences institutional review board (IRB), which has enabled him to gain insight into important ethical considerations around data and privacy.
